From the shape of the bottle, to the layered notes of grapefruit, pear and peony, the love for this rich, floral fragrance is barely new, yet at first spritz I was still left unconvinced. Lola comes out a bit strong, but with a name like that–you kinda have to. Once it settles, the notes really come alive, with the scent practically melting into my skin. It took me a few sniffs to really get accustomed to this layered scent, but once I did, it was magic.

One of my recent drugstore finds is from CoverGirl as they rolled out their latest liner, the Liquiline Blast. A double-sided pencil that includes a creamy liner and a rubbery tapered tip, it’s meant for close-lid application with the option to smudge, smoke and glide for an unexpected pop of color. While the line includes both trusty stand-by shades of black and brown, they also have some fun options including a jewel-toned purple and a royal-blue hue. Just eyeing the pencil from the package, I thought it would be a great way to utilize color and quickly snatched up the blue option (CG’s Liquiline in Blue Boom).

Upon application, I found that the pencil went on smoothly, packing a hefty amount of pigment which looked unbelievably gorge considering the color. Because the finish was so creamy, I didn’t even need the tapered end to smudge, and could easily disperse the color with the tip of my finger. I envisioned this as a great compliment to a layered look, or pairing with a black liner for a two-toned effect (–a black lined rim with the blue to follow above the lash-line).

My complaints? Not many for the price-point, however I would have loved for a little more hold as the uber creamy base made smudging almost inevitable (a primer or setting powder is a must!). All in all I thought it was a pretty great find, and can’t wait to wear it out for a night on the town.

So let me dish. I’m often a fan of the lip-pencil for color, because it offers that same pigmented pop but delivers both precision and control (–which is great for annoying-perfectionists like myself). So when I met this number from Tarte, I was instantly piqued, and couldn’t keep my grubby digits away from testing the palette.

Tarte’s LipSurgence is a natural matte lip stain that offers a range of hues, all of which are adaptable, while still being a bit punchy and fun. While the finish is matte, it’s extremely moisturizing, as it contains both jojoba and peppermint oils, along with Vitamin C and E (which is uber-hydrating). The texture is smooth and creamy, but isn’t overly glossy or tacky giving it prime staying power–which is a MUST for me when choosing a lip color. The color I have my eye on–Envy, go figure!

I’ve actually heard of Chanel’s Paradoxal before seeing the actual bottle. Deliciously complex, and buildable, Paradoxal is a great approach to Fall color. A rich purple with muddled grey undertones, the depth in color lends itself to both those of ebony and alabaster without looking harsh or out of place. Similar to that of other Chanel polishes, the formula practically glides on, and works best with buffed beds + slick topcoat.

Confession: I’m kind of a lash-whore. While there are greater fates, finding a fab lash for a prime price is hard to score. Of course, there’s the extension plan that makes up for its cost by utter fabulousity and long lasting wear–or perhaps, the prescription find with weird side-effects, and of course, the trustful standby of the lengthening, strengthening mascara. Pros and cons aside, the fringe-fix I’m obsessing over has to be the ever-popular lash booster, and nothing comes close but Talika’s Eyelash Lipocils.

Semi-permanent and easy to wear, I’ve been singing its praises ever since first use. It’s packaged similar to that of a regular mascara, and holds no tint, odor or weight, which is perfect for adding to your daily regimen. I’ve been rocking my hair curly as of late, and honestly–I kinda like it. In the past, air drying was a lazy shortcut, a temporary fix from stressful extensions or braids. However, this multi-episode scene stealer has been a pleasant surprise, and with it I’ve discovered an even greater layer of product whoredom–the curly hair aisle.

A monster all of its own, the curly hair aisle is often bursting at the seams, boasting a vast array of what I call, curly-porn. Gels, mousses, creams (–or, cremes if you’re fancy)–they’re all waiting to seduce your spirals to produce a super-defined, full-bodied mass of bedroom hair that will have princes riding on white unicorns with children staring in awe.

OK, perhaps that was a bit much. Although the reality is that these products offer the stars and the moon when the majority is either A. drying out your locks or B. coating them with a crazy amount of chemicals leaving your tresses like some trashy pageant queen version of what they once were. So here are my picks for the big dance that will leave your hair looking healthy, happy and natural (–which really, what more can you ask for?).

• DevaCurl Heaven in Hair – A supreme deep conditioner, it’s a great weekly treat that doesn’t build, and compliments the other products you may use in your routine.
• CURLS Curl Souffle – Although it’s a deep conditioner, I love to use this as a daily moisturizer. Between the faint smell of cake batter and the lush formula, this adaptable cream moisturizes curls, without weighing them down or leaving your hair stiff or crunchy.
• Oyin Juice & Berries Leave-in Conditioner – Made with infused water containing grapefruit seed extract and organic flaxseeds, this all natural spray is a cult fave among natural girls, and is the perfect finish for defined curls and high shine.
• Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo – Shampoos as a whole are controversial for curly girls, but if you opt-in, this gentle lightweight formula is a great option that doesn’t dry out or over-stimulate the hair.
