So, I’ve never been a huge fragrance girl but I guess you can say things have changed. For the previous 10 years, the only real perfume on my shelf has been via Jenny from the Block–and others through previous internships or badly gifted afterthoughts. To break through this fairly embarrassing blip of beauty bounty, I’ve cruised through Bloomies, Macys and Sephoras across the East and West Sides, searching for a signature scent. Sure, I snagged a few notes. Even wrote down a few leads. From Gucci to Juicy, Vera to Viktor, I’ve braved over-consumption and pit-bull counter girls, though my pockets still came out empty. But then, I met Lola.
From the shape of the bottle, to the layered notes of grapefruit, pear and peony, the love for this rich, floral fragrance is barely new, yet at first spritz I was still left unconvinced. Lola comes out a bit strong, but with a name like that–you kinda have to. Once it settles, the notes really come alive, with the scent practically melting into my skin. It took me a few sniffs to really get accustomed to this layered scent, but once I did, it was magic.
